Planet Transitions in Astrology

Planet transitions are very important in Vedic astrology because they are the major means of predicting the changes and developments in life. Nine key planets are considered in Vedic astrology which are: Sun, Moon, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu. While others are physical planets which are visible, Rahu and Ketu are two shadow planets which are actually two sensitive nodes of Moon’s orbit which intersects with that of Earth’s ecliptic path. The descending node is known as Ketu and the ascending node as Rahu. Each of the 12 zodiac signs has a key influencing planet which is called the Lord of that zodiac sign. Sun is the Lord of Leo and the Moon is of Cancer, Mars is the Lord of Aries and Scorpio, Gemini and Virgo are ruled by Mercury, Pisces and Sagittarius are governed by Jupiter, Venus is of Taurus and Libra and Saturn rules Aquarius and Capricorn. A specific planet’s positioning in a zodiac sign during its natural course of transit would have some generalized implications but more relevant impact can be ascertained with the individual’s horoscope reading. Astrology as a science has a lot to do with data analysis and permutations and combinations of the effects which different planetary positions at an instance can bring on in a person’s life.
